Nationally, the Elks were first established in Manhattan New York in 1868. In 1917, the Elks privately funded the first Veterans Administration hospital in the nation. Locally, the San Pedro Elks was founded in 1905. As part of a national American fraternal nonprofit organization, the San Pedro Elks has been a cornerstone in the San Pedro community for the past 118 years. We are a volunteer organization and with benevolence we serve the needs of the community by promoting and promulgating kindness. We are protective of the weak, the under-served and the disenfranchised. We have national, regional and local charitable programs.  The San Pedro Elks is the 966th lodge in the more than 2,000 lodges across the country. We are uniquely American as our organization only exists within the United States of America.  We are proud to serve and help build a better America.
